It’s the understanding that cultural and religious modesty traditions are not obstacles to overcome. They’re the starting point for how a thoughtful beauty space should be designed.
We named the category because the industry hadn’t. We built Avera because the spaces didn’t exist. And we’re building a movement because millions of women deserve better than they’ve been offered.

What does 'modest beauty' actually mean?
Modest beauty is a way of practising beauty care that respects privacy, faith and bodily modesty. It includes practical considerations like ladies-only spaces, hijab-friendly environments, private treatment rooms, and cultural fluency. It's about not having to choose between looking after yourself and your values.
Will any men be on the premises during my treatment?
No. Avera is exclusively staffed by women, and during salon hours the only people on the premises are female staff and female clients. Our private treatment rooms have lockable doors. This is the foundation of the salon, not a feature we add on.
Do I need to remove my hijab during a treatment?
Only if you choose to and only for treatments that need it (like a facial or hair-line wax). The treatment room door locks from the inside. You're in full control of what stays covered and what doesn't.
Is Avera only for Muslim women?
Not at all. Modest beauty is for any woman who values privacy, ladies-only environments, or a calmer experience than a traditional mixed-gender salon. Our clients come from every faith, culture and background. What they share is wanting beauty care done thoughtfully.
What if I'm uncomfortable in mainstream salons?
That's exactly why Avera exists. Many of our regular clients had stopped going to traditional salons because they felt watched, exposed or rushed. Our private rooms, ladies-only ethos and one-to-one therapist relationships are designed around comfort.
Can I bring a friend or sister to my appointment?
Of course. You can wait together in the salon, or in some cases, be in the room together (depending on treatment). Just let us know when booking.
